Nebraskans help each other.
There are many stories of Nebraskan helping neighbors in times of need. Whenever someone is affected with a disaster of some kind, people respond with whatever help they may be able to offer.
It seems that same sense of helpfulness extends at times to organizations and sometimes even to governmental units.
If the current rate of prairie fires continue this year, 2022 may go down as some sort of record for these fires. However, often the public does not hear of all the ‘helpful things’ neighbors do for each other.
This story concerns itself with the South Central Public Power District, however. Many of us had heard of the large (30,000 acres) prairie fire west of our South Central area. Seems that the power district in that area lost approximately 150 power poles in that fire.
Monday, the SCPPD was in the process of transporting a number of poles from its inventory out west to assist their neighbor as the size and type of pole they needed was not readily available. South Central would then replace what they shared.
Neighbors helping neighbors . . . Nebraskans are nice.
