The Rock Hills High School boys and girls track and field teams opened the season at the Bennington Varsity Meet Friday. The Grizzlies competed at the St. John’s Invitational at Beloit Tuesday. Meet results were unavailable at press time.
The girls finished in 12th place, with seven points, in the 12 team Field. Other schools competing were Clifton-Clyde, Bennington, Eli-saline, Lincoln, St. John’s, Wakefield School, Tescott, Rural Vista, Wilson, Herrington and Canton-Galva. The boys finished in 10th place, with six points, in the 11 team field. Wilson High School did not field a boys team.
Grace Ayers ran the girls 100 meter dash in 14.57 seconds. Austyn Groote finished in 15.36 seconds. Neither runner earned points.
Ayers finished in seventh place in the 200 meter dash with her time of 30.92 seconds.
Groote took eighth place in the discus with her throw of 64’3”. Jada Beach had a throw of 44’3”.
Groote had a javelin throw of 48’9”.
Lauren Whelchel was in fifth place in the high jump at 4’6”. Raylynn Anderes took sixth place with her jump of 4’.
Whelchel earned fourth place points in the pole vault when she cleared the bar at 7’.
Ayers was in eighth place in the long jump with her leap of 12’1”. Whelchel recorded a jump of 11’10”.
Derrik Case posted a time of 12.42 seconds in the boys 100 meter dash. Wyatt Evert had a time of 12,77 seconds.
Case completed the 200 meter dash in 24.04 second.
Camden Ward registered a time of 1:10.83 in the 400 meter dash. Tyler Hanson was disqualified.
Kobi Bowers finished the 800 meter run in 2:49.2.
Trystn Reynolds finished in sixth place in the 1600 meter run with his time of 5:19.49. Bowers took seventh place with his time of 5:34.31.
Reynolds held sixth place in the 3200 meter run with his time of 12:03.4.
Hanson completed the 110 meter hurdles in 23:.12 seconds. Nate Meyers was disqualified.
The 4 x 100 meter relay team of Isiah Ridgeway, Evert, Ward and Case took sixth place with their time of 49.18 seconds.
Evert earned the fifth place points in the shot put with his toss of 36’11”. Zach Gurka has a toss of 24’5.5”.
Evert had a discus throw of 87”2”. Gurka had a throw of 57”7”.
Ridgeway cleared the bar at 5:4”.
Ridgeway cleared the bar at 8’ in the pole vault.
Hanson had a leap of 15’4.75” for the long jump.
Ridgeway covered 39.9.35” while Ward covered 33”3.5” in the triple jump.
