L-N track opened season at Kenesaw

The Lawrence-Nelson High School boys and girls track and field teams finally opened their 2022 outdoor season at Kenesaw last Tuesday. The first scheduled meet, at Sutton, was cancelled because of inclement weather. Other teams competing at Kenesaw were Axtell, Blue Hill, Doniphan-Trumbull, Red Cloud, Shelton, Silver lake, Franklin and Kenesaw.

Elsa Jorgensen took third place in the 100 meter dash with her time of 14.47 seconds. Hanna Skinner ran the preliminary heat but failed to advance to the final round.

Kara Menke earned fourth place points in the 200 meter dash with her time of 28.2 seconds. Katelyn Mazour and Skinner also competed in the preliminary rounds.

Menke earned second place points in the 400 meter dash with the time of 1:07.4.

Menke continued her point earning streak with her fourth place finish in the 800 meter run with her time of 2:51.5.

Emily Troudt finished the 1600 meter run with a time of 7:10.38. Jessica Sole finished with a time of 7:55.3.

Sole held fifth place in the 3200 meter run with her time of 15:17. 36.

Emma Epley nabbed second place points in the 100 meter hurdles with her time of 17.24 seconds.

The 4 x 100 meter relay team of Mazour, Epley, Claire Himmelberg and Jorgensen finished in fourth place with the time of 57.91 seconds.

The 4 x 800 meter relay team of Aleah Heikkinen, Troudt, Sole and Himmelberg claimed fourth place with their time of 12:14.67.

Kylie Beard took fifth place in the shot put with her toss of 33’.

Heikkinen took sixth place in the discus with a throw of 93’4”. Beard had a throw of 82’4”. Mazour finished with a throw of 64.8”.

Jorgensen landed a second place finish in the long jump with a leap of 16’.5”. Epley held fourth place with a jump of 15’6”. Skinner recorded a jump of 12’8”.

Epley picked up third place in the triple jump covering 31’3.25”.

Devyn Zikmund finished the boys 100 meter dash in 12.25 seconds. Erik Wheeland posted a time of 12.66 seconds. Rock Miller finished his preliminary heat in 14.19 seconds.

Sawyer Cox listed a time of 30.75 seconds in his 200 meter preliminary heat.

Logan and Menke earned first place points in the 800 meter run with his time of 2:14.96. Nolan Ostdiek added the third place points with his time of 2:20.19.

Menke trotted into a third place finish in the 1600 meter run with his time of 5:24.27.

Carter Griffis had a seventh place finish in the 110 meter hurdles with his time of 20.39 seconds. He finished in eighth place in the 300 meter hurdles with his time of 51.05 seconds.

The 4 x 100 meter relay team of Wheeland, Menke, Tyson Kotinek and Ostdiek had a sixth place finish with their time of 48.8 seconds.

The 4 x 400 meter relay team finished in sixth place with the time of 4:16.4.

The 4 x 800 meter relay team of Menke, Zikmund, Kotinek and Ostdiek ran away with the first place points with their time of 9:13.17.

Keaton Mazour tossed the shot 37’2” for a sixth place finish. Cox had a toss of 32”.5”. Logan Hoecker had a toss of 25’.5”.

Wheeland was in second place in the discus with his throw of 117’10”. Cox landed the sixth place points with his throw of 105’2”. Mazour had a throw of 98’ for eighth place.

Zikmund had a leap of 17’10” in the long jump.

Kotinek nailed fourth place in the triple jump covering 37’2”. Griffis had an effort of 34’11”.

The Franklin Invitational is next up for the Raiders Tuesday.
