Linda Louise (Louie) Saunders, daughter of Arthur Melvin Youngblood II and Louise (Grueber) Youngblood was born March 6, 1949, at Deshler, Neb. She died on March 30, 2022, at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita, Kansas at the age of 73.
After graduating from high school, she attended and graduated from Doane College, Crete, Neb., with a bachelor's of arts degree in elementary education. She was an elementary school teacher for 42 years, teaching every grade from K to 5, between the Superior, Neb., and Pike Valley school districts. She was in charge of the Republic County spelling bee for many years. Exciting young minds about learning was her passion. She also enjoyed music and the arts. She played the tuba and was in many plays. Anytime you saw her, she had a joke for you. She was an animal lover, and owned many birds and dogs over the years. She was united in marriage to Elgin Saunders on May 23, 1975. To this union two children were born, Angel and John.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church, Courtland, Kan., and the United Methodist Women.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Louise Youngblood; and one brother, Arthur (Mick) Melvin Youngblood III.
She is survived by her husband, Elgin Saunders of Courtland; one daughter, Angel (Lucas) Zeller of Paxico, Kan .; one son, John Saunders of York, Neb .; five grandchildren, one great-grandchild, other relatives and many friends.
Her funeral was held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, April 5, 2022, at the United Methodist Church, Courtland, conducted by Pastor Sandra Jellison-Knock.
Interment was in White Rock Cemetery, rural Courtland.
Memorials may be given to the Linda L. Saunders Memorial Fund.
Friends called from 1 to 8 p.m., on Monday, April 4, at Bachelor-Surber Funeral Home, Belleville, where the family greeted friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Linda mentioned to family when this time came, she didn't want sad, black formal clothes, just dress nice. She loved spring and it's bright colors.
