Love my crazy life

My sinuses have let me know spring is here! The past two mornings, I have awakened with a pounding head. I have year-round allergies, but they are worse when everything starts waking up. I should have purchased stock in Claritin and Sudafed when I was younger to get a return on my investments.

Friday afternoon, I got a wild hair and decided it was time to get back to work on the Money Pit. I’d been struggling with the texture on the ceiling for weeks and had only gotten about a quarter of it done. I was dreading the work of finishing it. That over-the-head stuff is hard work. I had hoped to have the whole room texturized by Sunday evening but fell short and will resume the battle later in the week. Even though it isn’t finished, it looks like a completely different room. I’m excited to see it completed.

Once again, my house is a disaster. There is not one empty surface between the construction materials, tools and graduation items. I wish I could say it was clean beneath the clutter, but I’ve tracked drywall mud everywhere despite my best efforts. I am looking forward to the day the house is completed, although I’m not sure I will know what to do with myself once that day comes.

It’s hard to believe my baby is graduating in a month and leaving for basic training in less than six. I’m not sure if I’m upset he is grown or if I’m upset that I am old enough to have two adult children. Many moms focus on the “lasts” with their seniors, the last game, the last concert and the last dance. I am trying to focus on the many “firsts” this new chapter will bring. That first “Mom, you were right” is always a bit satisfying. Just kidding, LOL!

I went for an impromptu visit to the eye doctor. I had made an appointment, but they were booked so tight that I couldn’t get in until May. Thankfully they had a cancellation and were able to see me. The last couple of years has been a never-ending battle with my eyes. I’m at the point where I could maybe use a bi-focal, but the doc doesn’t think it would benefit me all that much. We have tried progressive lenses, but those didn’t work so great for me. Once again, I am abnormal. My eyes don’t work together like an average person, so no-line bifocals and progressive lenses are not good options for me. So it’s back to two pairs of glasses for this woman.

Since I was already in town, I hit the grocery store and ran a couple of errands. With gasoline prices the way they are, every trip needs to be productive. Lately, I haven’t been able to find many of the things I need in the store, and I’ve had to start doing more online shopping. That frustrates me. I’d rather see, touch and hold something to know its quality before purchasing it. For instance, I ordered a dress that looked nice on the computer screen, but when I tried it on, the cut was much lower than advertised! Oh well, it will make a cover-up for my swimsuit.

Well, folks, that’s all I have for this week; I’m a pretty boring woman these days. Let’s all pray for some nice soaking rains. X’s & O’s.
