Jewell County hosts 8th annual E-Fair

On Friday, Jewell County Community Development and Rock Hills School partnered to host the 8th Annual Jewell County E-Fair. With 11 total business plans, the event enjoyed near-record participation. Kyra Lampe, Jewell County Community Development economic development specialist, commented, "It's really awesome to see kids excited about giving back to their community through entrepreneurship and area businesses supporting them in those endeavors.Great things are happening here in Jewell County and other rural areas, and I'm glad students recognize these opportunities. It gives me so much hope about the future of this county and rural Kansas." Winners are as follows:

1st place: Aaron Underwood-Underwood Square Bales ($800)

Tie for 2nd: Hannah Simmelink-Simmelink Fence ($200)

Faith Reinert-Faith's Flock of Fortune ($200)

Creative Marketing Award: Whitley Frost-Hoofin' It ($150) (Sponsored by Nex-Gen Round-Up for Youth)

Best Youth Presentation: Emma Strnad-Emma's Hot Pads ($50) (Sponsored by State Exchange Bank)

Most Creative: Aiden Brown and Samara Reynolds-A and S Shoe Repair and Customization ($50) (Sponsored by State Exchange Bank).

Other participants included: Meili Ost and Aerilyn Davis, co-owners of Ma's Home Baked Goods; Chace Fogo, owner of Mega Mowing; Taty Cruz and Nolan Grout, co-owners of Creekside Pet-Daycare Inc.; Jayce Cade, owner of Farm Fresh Cafe; and Carter Nondorf and Hunter Frost; owners of Whack Track Truck Wash.

The sponsors were Keith and Bethany Roe, North Central Kansas Technical College, Cunningham Telephone and Cable, Guaranty State Bank & Trust Co, Jewell Implement, Central National Bank, Bohnert Welding LLC, State Exchange Bank, and Nex-Generation Round-Up for Youth. Judges were Trevor Elkins, Luke Mahin, Brian Schulda and Harley Schuster.
