Another week that I feel like I’ve accomplished nothing, but I have done a lot. The majority of Jacob’s graduation invites are ready to send. I even remembered to order a few wallets for his dad to add to the invites he will send, and the 4x6 proofs are on the way. We have a “plan” for his graduation reception, and so far, things are coming together.
George’s boys were down this weekend. I picked them up on Friday and joked with their mom that I was ready to return them before she had even got home from work. I got to their house at five, and she arrived home at 5:15. Nicholas was so excited he was at the driver’s window before I got the car in park.
Saturday, George and Jackson worked on the little motor scooter that I will hopefully be driving this summer while Nicholas bounced back and forth between the garage and his bedroom. Mom stopped over for a bit to chat with all of us and see what all the commotion was about. Jacob had a USMC Poole function in Kearney. Thankfully, the recruiter met me in Hastings for drop off and pick up. He was exhausted when I picked him up that afternoon. They ran a simulated fire obstacle course and had to “firman” carry their battle buddy. He said it was a good day and that he had fun. It was just exhausting.
Sunday, we loaded up again to take the boys home. We stopped off in Lincoln for lunch, and the boys enjoyed that. It’s not often we get to go inside a restaurant and eat. Usually, it’s a packed lunch or drive-through off-the-dollar menu. So it was a nice change, but with the way prices are going up, it may be a while before we can do that again.
I haven’t gotten much done in the house the last week. It’s about all I can do to keep up with the regular chores. That last bug that went through the house kind of did me in. I don’t have the energy I should have. I am hoping to get in to see a doc about my anemia soon. I am hopeful that it gets sorted and I start feeling better on a more permanent basis.
We are finally getting some moisture. Maybe we won’t all blow away after all. Let’s pray it keeps up. X’s and O’s.
