If you couldn't attend the Music Trivia night put on by the Nelson Community Club this past Saturday, you missed out on a fun evening. Twenty-five teams registered for the event, with the smallest being a two-person team. The largest teams consisted of six members. Many door prizes were awarded and consisted of, hats, gift certificates and gift baskets.
The Nelson American Legion Post 187 hosted a cash bar while the Nelson Volunteer Fire Department provided dinner consisting of pulled pork sandwich, chips and a cookie. Chili was also available, and later in the evening, the group served nachos. Royce Schott provided entertainment for the evening.
The event brought in another $1,675 for the community club. The group has been raising money to purchase an electronic sign to be placed in front of the city office. The sign will be double-sided and full-color. The project's total cost will be between $20,000 and $25,000. The group has the option to purchase either a 3-Line 5.5" character sign or a 5-line 5.5" character sign. So far, the club has raised more than $6,700 for this project.
The fire department took in around $1,000 at the event, and the American Legion was kept busy as well, selling out of most everything on hand. This was a fun event.
