The school year continues onward as high school wrestlers were involved in district competition last week. The top four winners in each weight class qualified for the trip to Omaha and the state wrestling meet.
The South Central Red Raiders were in the Class C-1 Meet with Rowan Jarosik, Jacob Hagemeier and Nathan Elledge all competing.
Rowan Jarosik (33-12) placed second in the 113 weight class and scored 16 team points. Rowan won his quarterfinal match with a fall over Waylon Warmeke of Elkhorn Valley. Rowan won his semifinal match with a 6-4 decision over Aidan Trowbridge of Fillmore Central.
In the championship match for first place, Rowan lost to Zander Kavan of Aquinas Catholic in a sudden victory 10-6.
Jacob Hagemeier (12-21) lost his first round, but received a bye in the consolation round 1. However in the Consolation round 2 he lost again.
Nathan Elledge (6-27) received a bye in the first round; but lost his next two rounds.
The State Championship Tournament will be held in Omaha this week on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
