The Jewell County Cinema, Inc. board met on Jan. 31. It was called to order by Thadd Hinkle. All attendees were present in person. Those who attended were Thadd Hinkle, Lisa Goodheart, Phyllis Christie and Kristin Underwood.
The minutes of the December meeting were approved by consensus. Janis McDill e-mailed the treasurer’s report to the board prior to the meeting.
In old business, discussion was held on upcoming movies. Christie suggested McDill try to get “Journal for Jordan” for Feb. 11 through 13, move each of the other booked movies down a weekend, and not book “Eternals” as it has been out since November.
Hinkle said there is still a low hum in the sound system. He is going to contact Sonic and see if they will re-program the processor.
Christie said there are still unused movie vouchers.
In new business, Underwood said she gave old movie posters to the elementary school to use as rewards. Underwood is involved in planning Mankato’s 150th celebration over Memorial weekend. She would like to show off the Ute Theater, and wondered if Curtis Rafferty would run a slide show at the theater that weekend. They have found the film that was created for the 100th celebration and that could be shown “on a loop” for people to just come and go. Discussion was held about providing a smaller version of the movie advertising poster to the school to be sent home with the children. Hinkle said he could create something. Goodheart showed a poster to the board about a movie called “Sabina” which can be shown for free with a license. Hinkle applied for the license during the meeting, and the tentative showing date will be March 27. There will be no cost for this movie. Contact Christie if you are interested in volunteering.
The next meeting will be Feb. 28.
