I woke up to the birds chirping this morning; that was a nice change of pace. Usually, it’s my alarm clock squawking after I’ve hit snooze for the fifteenth time. When I came downstairs to get my morning cup of joe, I could have sworn I heard them in the wall! I suppose birds in the wall are better than bats in the belfry or basement, for that matter.
I had a busy weekend of patching plaster while George worked to piece our second-hand countertops together. There might be more patch than plaster at this point. The countertops are looking nice, we still need to glue them and fill the seams, but there is only so much you can do in a weekend. In the future, we plan to pour an epoxy over them so they “look” seamless and like marble.
I’ve managed to give myself tennis elbow. I’ve never played tennis, and now it looks like I never will. I wish I had started this home renovation stuff in my 20s because I feel like I need a brace for every joint! Two days of climbing up and down the ladder have my rear and legs screaming! LOL!
I can’t wait for summer, I get to start painting the exterior of the home, all two and a half stories of it! I really will be belly aching then.
Speaking of summer, I am excited for it. I’ve started planning the garden. I keep telling myself not to get too excited because, with the mild weather we have had, March may be a bugger. I’m a terrible gardener, but every year I try again. LOL!
I can’t wait for fresh tomatoes! They are one thing I can grow, and the ones I have gotten from the store recently have no flavor! I might even splurge and buy bacon for BLTs when they come on. The price of bacon right now makes me cringe. I can’t make myself purchase it, and I love bacon.
Speaking of prices, I cringe every time we have to go into a store. Jacob asked me to get “snacky food” when I went grocery shopping, and I was like, “Do we look like rich people!” He wants to go on this “protein diet” to get all big and muscly before going to boot camp this fall. Apparently, what I cook is not good enough, and we have had to put our foot down with him because he keeps eating all the eggs! LOL! Let’s just say he is working on finding employment to pay for his eating habits.
Well, that’s all for now. Have a safe and blessed week, X’s & O’s.
