Debra Kaye Vaughan, 63, died after a long fought battle of respiratory failure exacerbated by COVID-19 on Dec. 27, 2021, at Brod- stone Memorial Hospital, Superior. Debra was born on Dec. 10, 1958, in Kansas City, Mo., to Clifford R. Showers and Jean M. (Anderson) Showers.
Debra was a caregiver to her core, and took great pride in the level of care she was able to give to others. She worked for many years as a nurse as well as serving as an EMT in Jewell County for several years. She particularly enjoyed caring for children, watching after each of them as though each was her own.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, James A. Vaughan III and her parents.
Survivors include her son, James A. Vaughan IV (Jana) and grandchildren, Cynthia Shevchenko (Kyle), and Cedric Balentine all of Mankato; her sisters, Diane Wilson (Chris) of Rye, Colo., Vicky Showers, Rye, Colo., April Beyer (Dave) Arvada, Colo., Wendy Ost (Kim) Mankato, Stephanie Clark (Will) Broomfield, Colo., and Misty Johnson (Troy) Thornton, Colo.
Services are not planned at this time, as cremation was chosen.
