What it takes to live like a millionaire

When new Cadillac automobiles cost $6,000, having assets valued at $1 million allowed a person to live like a millionaire but that is no longer enough.

What does it take today to live like a millionaire? If you live in the San Francisco Bay Area where the average home price is $1.3 million families with only a $1 million in assets are struggling to raise a family.

Solitaired.com recently asked 4,859 people across the United States what they think it takes to live like a millionaire in their home state.

The average Nebraskan responding said it would take at least $5,925,532 in assets to live like a millionaire in their home state. The national average was just a little less at $5,474,032 which is just below the $5.5 million Kansas residents thought they needed, Iowans needed $5,231,343, Oklahomans needed $5,526,316. In South Dakota it took $5,260.000. Missourians needed $5,140,000 and Coloradans needed $4,833.333.
