The Jewell County Health Department continues to administer flu shots and COVID vaccinations: Moderna, Pfizer and Pfizer pediatric for ages 5 and up and anyone who is interested in getting boosters, first or second shots. Moderna and Pfizer boosters are now recommended at 5 months after the primary series and for anyone over the age of 12.
The department has several upcoming events scheduled.
Tuesday, Feb. 8: Moderna 18 and older
Friday, Feb. 11: Pfizer Pediatric and adult Pfizer 18 and older
Friday. Feb. 18: No school for Rock Hills. Parents considering childhood immunizations can call and schedule.
Upcoming WIC dates are Thursday, Feb. 17, Thursday, March 17 and Wednesday, April 20.
Jewell County is considered in the extremely high or substantial risk of community transmission. The county has had a total of 754 cases with 13 deaths since the beginning. There were 32 new cases of COVID in Jewell County from Jan. 22 to 28 and no hospitalizations.
