Deputy Isaiah Tippin starts the training academy

The Jewell County Commissioners met, January 24. Commissioners Steve Greene and Brent Beck were present. Carla J. Waugh, county clerk, was present for the meeting.

Cindy Becker, health administrator, discussed the bid process for the grant to renovate the bathroom and flooring in the health department building. She provided an update on COVID-19 cases.

The commissioners approved signing the Proclamation for National Slavery and Human Trafficking Prevention and the National Stalking Awareness Month Proclamation for January 2022.

Joel Elkins, general superintendent, discussed bridge and road maintenance projects. He had bids for the purchase of 42 culverts (tubes). The commissioners approved the culvert bid of $29,680.92 from Welborn Sales Inc.

Chairman Greene opened the sealed bids to sell the Health Department’s 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The commissioners approved selling the 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee to Hayes Auto Sales for $1,375.

Don Jacobs, sheriff, discussed delivery date for the vehicle purchase for his department. He said Deputy Isaiah Tippin started the training academy.
