SHS boys basketball team drops two

The Superior High School boys basketball team lost a close one, 61-54, to Heartland, at Henderson, last Tuesday. A trip to Sandy Creek, Saturday, resulted in a 49-33 loss. The Wildcats traveled to Hastings, Tuesday, for a contest with Hastings St. Cecilia. Game results were unavailable at press time.

The Wildcats led Heartland 17-11 at the end of the first quarter. The Huskies roared back to take a 30-27 lead at the halfway mark. Heartland inched away from the Wildcats over the third and fourth quarters to leave Superior on the short end of the 61-54 score.

Sandy Creek dominated the first half against Superior, taking a 26-10 lead into the half. The deficit was too much for Superior to overcome as they fell 49-33 for the their 12th loss of the season against one win.

Seth Schnakenberg led the Wildcat scoring against Heartland with 16 points. Tanner Theis dropped through 15 points. Jacob Meyer put 11 points on the board. Dane Miller came through with eight points. Ashton Grassman finished the game with four points. Miller nabbed nine rebounds.

Schnakenberg nailed down seven rebounds for Superior. Grassman grabbed six rebounds. Theis picked off five rebounds. Meyer pulled down four rebounds.

Schnakenberg put up 11 points against Sandy Creek. Grassman posted six points. Meyer hit for five points. Miller and Theis scored four points each. Theo Mathis hit a three-point field goal. Grassman elbowed his way to 10 rebounds. Miller and Schankenberg collected six rebounds apiece. Theis grabbed a rebound.

The Wildcats host the Doniphan-Trumbull Cardinals, Friday. The Deshler Dragons visit Superior Tuesday.
