Jewell City Council receives grant for community center flooring
The Jewell City Council met in regular session at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 3, at City Hall. Those in attendance were Mayor Darrell Bohnert; Council Members Josh Burks, Max Burks, Gaye Daniels and Derek Birdsell, Bob Freeman and City Clerk Kristie Anderson.
Don Jacobs, sheriff, was present and discussed the city’s activities.
James Reed, code enforcement officer, presented his monthly report. Reed continues to work with property owners to abate nuisances.
Krisitie Anderson presented the monthly clerk’s report. Anderson mentioned only 15 dog tags have been purchased so far and she will be sending out letters to the dog owners who have not purchased tags by Jan. 31. Anderson also gave an update on the community center and motel reservation for the month of January.
David Knappert presented the monthly maintenance report. Knappert mentioned sending an oil sample from the sewer lift generator to get tested for fuel residue.
In unfinished business, Mayor Bohnert talked about the Emerson Lake Cleanup Project.
In other business, a motion to approve TRF Loan payment was approved. Anderson swore in the council members who were elected from 2021 election.
Daniels said the city received a grant to replace the flooring in the community center.
