Blood Drive held in Nelson Jan. 13

The Red Cross Blood Drive was held last Thursday, Jan. 13, in Nelson.  The drive was about three units short of meeting our goal. It was a frustrating day. The Red Cross was once again short-staffed. If the five people who had to get back to work and couldn’t wait an hour plus to get through, could have waited, the goal would have been met and we could have surpassed our goal. There were more than enough scheduled donors to meet our goal.

Jacob Swift was a first time donor, and Alan Hayden came back after years of not donating.

Milestone donors were:

Betty McCutchan and Judy Corman reached their 11 gal. goal.

Jan Menke, 10 gallon; Kristin Miller, 3 gal.; Kate Brown Wilt, 2 gal. and Morgan Trausch and Chelsey Seamann are now 1 gallon donors.

Other donors were:  Greg and Jean Stichka; James Bailey; Julie Worman; Ray Otero; Dale Endorf; Kara Kliewer; Ron Fryda; Carol Buschkoetter; Trish Honeycutt; Joe and Gwynne Mazour; Ivalee Jacobitz; Tina Kile; Jerry Grove; Cindy Hewitt; Nick Elledge; Donna Jensen; Brian VanSteenberg; Ashley Wit; Theresa Schultz; Craig Cox; Sean Trumble; Diane Wehrman; Kylie Beard; Peggy Aldrup; Dr. Leibel; Dave Ochsner; Jodene Clabaugh; Mike Buresh; Royce Gonzales; Brenda Carpenter; Makayla Carter; Kasey Vaughn; Teresa Walton; Don Mazour; Linda Ostdiek; Lyle Meyer; Lynn Culbertson; Audrey Christensen; Jenell Wood; Ken Himmelberg; Susan Rogers and Trenton and Jaclyn Siebecker.

The Sacred Heart women furnished the sandwiches and cookies for lunch manned by Mary Keenan and Laura Karmazin.

The Lawrence-Nelson School will be hosting the next drive on Wednesday, March 16. All regular donors will be able to donate again as this is more than the required 8 weeks.
