Elizabeth "Betty" Ann Sprinkle of Omaha, died Dec. 26, in Omaha surrounded by her nieces.
Betty Ann and her husband, Jim, were married for 38 years. They were married on July 3,1958, and lived in Kansas City. Betty Ann was an avid sports fan of the University of Kansas Jayhawks basketball team, Kansas City Chiefs and Kansas City Royals. She would also join her sister Marguerite in cheering for the Green Bay Packers.
Betty Ann was born and raised in Superior, Neb., and graduated from Superior High School in 1942. She went on to graduate from University of Nebraska at Lincoln with majors in home economics and textiles in 1946. At the encouragement of her father, Betty Ann went on to receive her master's degree in retailing from New York University in New York City in 1947. After which, she moved to Chicago to be closer to her sister Marguerite and worked at the Carson Pirie Scott & Co. Department Store and Fair Department Store in their training departments. She moved to Kansas City where she worked for Blue Cross & Blue Shield. Before retirement, she worked at Fairbanks-Morse Pump Division at Colt Industries.
With Betty Ann's experience with retail and textiles, she enjoyed sewing her own clothes. She liked playing bridge (with her bridge club), bird watching and collecting rocks with Jim from all the places they traveled together. Betty Ann was a lifelong member of the Methodist Church.
Betty Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Jim; her parents, Ben and Hazel Hill; her sister, Marguerite Myers; and her brother, William "Bill" Hill. Betty Ann is survived by her cousin, Willa Vollertsen; nieces, Kathy Cole, Marty Baumgart, Jennifer Breen, Judy Reid, Susan Penner, Linda Daugherty, Pam Frerichs and Julie Allison; and nephew, Rick Myers.
At 10:30 a.m., yesterday, Jan. 5, a visitation was held followed by a memorial service, both at Wyandotte United Methodist Church in Kansas City. Interment occurred immediately afterwards at the Leavenworth National Cemetery, in Leavenworth, Kan.
