Beverly Kindler

Beverly Louise Kindler was born Oct. 29, 1930, on a farm near Esbon, Kan. She died in Smith Center on Jan. 2. She was the daughter of Edna (Willson) and Glenn E. Kindler.

She attended a one room school house during her grade school years and graduated from Lebanon High School in 1948. Beverly grew up participating in 4-H which led to her professional desire of becoming a home economist. She attended Kansas State University graduating with a bachelor of science degree in home economics in 1952.

She was hired as an extension agent in Decatur County the summer following graduation where she remained for 8 years. In 1960, she transferred to Norton County. In 1966, she attended Michigan State University where she received her master of arts degree. Beverly retired in 1994 after 42 years in extension service.

Beverly was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Shirley Reynolds; her brothers-in-law, Kenneth Reynolds and Merlin Alexander; her niece, Linda Gleason; and grand nephew, Jeffrey Gleason.

She is survived by her sister, Virginia Alexander of Esbon; nephew, Larry Reynolds; nieces, Kathy Atkins and her husband, Dave, Deanne Alexander and Tammy Alexander; along with many other relatives and friends.

Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m., Monday, Jan. 10, at the Norton United Methodist Church, followed by burial at the Esbon, Kan., cemetery.

Memorials are requested to the Norton Public Library or the Norton United Methodist Church.
