County board organizes for 2022

Nuckolls County Board

The Nuckolls County Board of Commissioners met at the county courthouse in Nelson Monday.

The meeting was the annual reorganizational meeting.

Tim Zikmund continues as board chairman.

Ken Rempe was appointed acting chairman.

The board approved a resolution designating Superior’s Farmers and Merchants and Central National Bank, Commercial Bank, Nelson, and NAPIT as depository banks and authorizing the county treasurer to invest county funds.

Dr. Timothy Blecha was appointed county physician.

The Superior Express was designated the official county newspaper. The Nuckolls County Locomotive Gazette was designated the official county newspaper for publication of delinquent tax list.

The board approved a resolution fixing rates for machinery use. The rate is used for reimbursement from FEMA.

A resolution was approved authorizing the board chairman and county clerk to act on behalf of the board.

The board approved a resolution setting a per diem rate of $50 for county employees on official business.

Different board members were appointed as the county representative on the following boards: Mid-Nebraska Individual Service, South Central Economic Development District, Region III Behavioral Health Governing Board, Chairman of the county board of equalization, Midland Area Agency on Aging Advisory Board, county safety committee and the 911 emergency services Board.

Carrie Miller was appointed as the Nuckolls County School Superintendent, NIRMA contact person, Human Resource manager and Title VI contact person.

The board appointed Ken Himmelberg to the Trailblazer RC & D Council.

The board adopted the dates for the 2022 meetings.

The board of commissioners serve as the Noxious Weed Authority Board. The board appointed Nick Elledge as county weed superintendent and head of Emergency Management.

The board designated the official county web site as an additional source of information for public notices of county board agendas and meetings as well as miscellaneous notices.

The board approved 2022 holiday hours. The board appointed Jeff Wagner as Nuckolls County Highway Superintendent.

The board approved the courthouse closing procedure because of adverse weather conditions.

The board reappointed Vicki ensign, county treasurer, and Susan Rogers, county assessor, as the budget authority.

They declined to appoint an ARPA committee. The board will deal with federal pandemic funds.

The board declined to declare Juneteenth a county holiday.

Utility permits were approved for Steve Houtwed and Martin and Susan Overturf.

A grant was approved for a tire recycling event. This is tentatively scheduled for August.

The board will meet at 8:30 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 18, because of the Martin Luther King holiday.
