It was a tough season opener for the Rock Hills High School boys basketball team. They fell to Pike Valley 49-17 at Scandia Friday. It was also the first game of the T-Bird Invitational Tournament. Clifton-Clyde downed Rock Hills, 82-13 at Mankato last Tuesday. Wakefield downed Rock HIlls 46-28, Saturday, at Cloud County Community College in Concordia. The Grizzlies finished in sixth place in the T-Bird tournament. St Johns-Tipton downed the Grizzlies 49-18 at Beloit. The team is still looking for its first win of the season with their 0-4 record.
Ethan Kenworthy hit for six points to lead the Grizzlies against St, John’s-Tipton. Cesar Ortiz scored four points. Eli Vance was good for three points. Troy Duskie landed two points. Wyatt Evert nailed a free throw for one point.
The Grizzlies will look for their first win of the season when they reume play with a game against Red Cloud on Monday, Jan. 4.
