The Lawrence-Nelson girls basketball team couldn’t come closer to winning than they did Friday when they visited Friend. The Friend Bulldogs handed the Raiders a heartbreaking 35-34 loss. The Shelton Bulldogs visited Nelson Tuesday with game results unavailable at press time.
Lawrence-Nelson led 18-16 at the half. They trailed by one, 27-26 at the end of the third quarter and were unable to close that one point gap. The loss was the fourth of the season for the Raiders who have one win.
Emma Epley led the Raiders scoring with 11 points. Sydney Biltoft and Katelyn Mazour registered six points apiece. Aleah Heikkinen and Claire Himmelberg drained five points each. Kara Menke put away a free throw for one point.
Menke and Emily Troudt harvested seven rebounds apiece. Biltoft wrestled down six rebounds. Epley pulled down three rebounds. Himmelberg and Mazour handled two rebounds apiece.
The Raiders play at the Hershey Holiday Tournament at Hershey High School Tuesday and Wednesday.
