L-N girls drop two games

The Franklin Flyers topped the Lawrence-Nelson High School girls basketball team 49-29 at Franklin Friday. Matters didn’t improve Saturday when the Bruning-Davenport- Shickley Eagles handed the Raiders a 44-29 loss at Nelson.

Franklin lept out to a 27-8 lead after two quarters. Lawrence-Nelson was unable to make up the deficit and was left with a 20 point loss.

The Raiders stayed close to B-D-S for the first quarter, trailing 15-12. They managed one point in the second quarter and five in the third while the Eagles added 22 points over those two quarters. Lawrence-Nelson revived in the fourth quater but it was too little way too late. The loss left the team with a 1-3 record.

Katelyn Mazour scored eight points against Franklin to lead the Raiders offense. Sydney Biltoft and Emma Epley scored six points. apiece. Aleah Heikkinen dropped through five points. Elsa Jorgensen posted four points. Heikkinen hauled away five rebounds. Biltoft and Mazour elbowed their way to four rebounds apiece. Epley, Kara Menke and Emily Troudt each grabbed two rebounds. Beard, Claire Himmelberg and Addi McCloskey collected one rebound each.

Himmelberg popped in seven points against B-D-S. Epley came through with five points. Troudt posted four points. Biltoft, Jorgensen and Mazour connected for three points each. Heikkinen, Himmelberg and Menke registered two points apiece. Epley pulled down seven rebounds. Menke had four rebounds. Heikkinen, Himmelberg, Mazour and Troudt accounted for two rebounds each. Biltoft handled one rebound.

The Raiders look to getr back on the winning track when they travel to Friend Friday. The Shelton Bulldogs come to Nelson Saturday for a game.
