Every year, American Legion members create trays of Christmas treats for the members in the community who are no longer able to get out and about. The joint meeting of the Nelson American Legion, Sons of American Legion and Auxiliary held on Dec. 9, was a fun-filled and tasty occasion. Following a short business meeting, the balance of the evening was used for preparing cookie plates for distribution to area veterans, both at home and in long term care facilities, and to the families of departed veterans. And of course it was necessary to perform various taste tests to make sure the baker's efforts were fit for the honored recipients!
