SHS boys basketball drops opener

It was a heartbreaking season opener for the Superior High School boys basketball team and new head coach Trent Siebecker, as they fell to Republic County, 41-38, at Superior, Saturday. The Fairbury Jeffs visited Superior, Tuesday, with game results unavailable at press time.

The Wildcats trailed 23-18 at the half. They slipped further behind to trail 35-26 at the end of the third period. They stepped up their defense and ignited the offense and rallied to pull within three points of the Buffaloes when time expired. They fell 41-38. Dane Miller led the Superior scorers with 12. Tanner Theis flipped through 11 points. Ashton Grassman posted nine points. Seth Schnakenberg dropped through six points. Schnakenberg snagged 11 rebounds. Grassman and Miller handled six rebounds each. Jacob Meyer had three rebounds. Roscoe Baumbach and Taygun Rothchild contributed a rebound each.

Superior travels to Wilber, Saturday, for a game with the Wilber-Clatonia Wolverines. The team plays Blue Hill, at Blue Hill, Tuesday.
