Though motorists are having to detour to take a detour, The Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad's repair of the Bloom Street crossing has been welcomed. The railroad closed the crossing Monday and started repairing the crossing which serves sidings as well as the railroad's main line through Superior. Unlike the Highway 14 Crossing which was replaced before Thanksgiving, this time motorists have only short detours to the Hartley or Central street crossings.
The Bloom Street crossing is the busiest of the three in-town crossing as it serves the hard surfaced road to Webber and Lovewell State Park. When lake traffic with recreational vehicles and boats in-tow return in the spring, the drivers will be pleased to see the crossing finally got the long overdo attention it has been needing.
Alignment shop owners and tire dealers are perhaps the only ones sorry to see the crossing fixed. Without doubt the old crossing has made extra work for the alignment shops and speeded the replacement of tires.
