The Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks (KDWP) and the Center for Economic Development and Business Research (CEDBR) at Wichita State University (WSU) polled 39,156 visitors who stayed at a Kansas state park between April 1, 2020 and Sept. 11, 2020, including those who visited Lovewell State Park. The purpose was to better understand Kansas state parks’ contributions to regional and state economies. Here’s how Lovewell State Park contributes to Kansas economies.

Qualitative information was also captured from survey respondents, such as their overall sense of satisfaction, value and perception of authenticity related to their stay.
Across all Kansas state parks, 91.9 percent of visitors indicated they would recommend Kansas state parks to others, and 79.9 percent indicated they would revisit the same state park within a year. According to responses, the top three benefits survey respondents took away from their stay included quality time with family, decreased stress levels and increased quality of life.
“Our state park staff remains committed to offering services and facilities where families can make lasting memories and add to their quality of life,” said Thane Loring, Lovewell State Park manager.
Survey respondents across all Kansas state parks had an average party size of four people, stayed 4.1 days and spent approximately $510 each trip.
“No matter the income level of our visitors, Kansas state parks remain an affordable, ‘close to home’ getaway everyone can enjoy,” added Linda Lanterman, Kansas State Parks director.
