Leon G. Ault

Leon Gerald Ault, from Esbon, died Sept. 19, 2021. He was 82.

Leon was born May 9, 1939, in Concordia, Kan., to Loretta and Gerlad Ault. His first love was animals and he attended K-State with the intention of becoming a vet. After deciding he couldn’t see the animals in pain, he turned to film school. He filmed everything from the Olympics, to commercials, industrial videos, documentaries, and even a horror movie.

Leon was someone different to everyone he met, but was still himself each time. He could make beautiful furniture, take amazing photographs and still farm. He was never short on stories, adventure or tavel. He joined the Air Force in 1961 as a member of the 5th Bombardment Wing. After his service NBC (called KARD way back then) hired him. He married Marie Green in 1975 and also welcomed daughter ,Vanessa, into the family. He later divorced and never remarried. He worked with NBC for 20 years before starting his own cinematography company.

In addition to Vanessa, Leon is survived by his son-in-law, Brett Ault-McCoy and grandson, Dathan Ault-McCoy.

He was predeceased by his parents and his brother, Richard Jay Ault.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m., Friday, Oct. 15 at the Roberts Family Funeral Home. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be given to the Kansas Humane Society. Roberts Family Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
