Love my crazy life

I’m happy to say Jacob is good to go! Apparently, he has angered the nerves in his forearm, and the doctor told him it would stop hurting as soon as he quits using it as a battle-ax. He gets to wear an extra pad from now on when playing football. He used the last week planning for his future. Tuesday, he was allowed to ride along with the recruiter to his dad’s for his signature. Wednesday, we tried to remember every address we have ever had; I really should have kept a copy of what I gave to Robert’s recruiter. Then Thursday and Friday, he had his first experience with MEPS.

Military Entrance Processing Station or MEPS is where recruits go to take their ASVAB, the ACT of the military, and have their entrance physical. If the ASVAB and the physical go well, the recruit is sworn in and chooses a MOS (Military Occupational Specialties), based on their test scores. Based on the chosen MOS, a ship date is given. For the moment, Jacob’s chosen MOS is in the intelligence field, and his ship date is June 2022. All of this can change as quickly as the weather in Nebraska. LOL!

George had yet another bank holiday off of work. I’m not sure I will ever get used to that. I don’t know how normal people spend their days off, but we spend ours, you guessed it, in the “Money Pit.” We have electricity in every room downstairs except for the kitchen. We are still working on the layout of that room. At the beginning of this journey, we had intended on purchasing unfinished cabinets. The reality of things is that we have several used “mix-and-match’ cabinets to refinish. We also have “mix-and-match” countertops to install! That’s going to be an interesting mess to figure out!

I’m a very “thrifty” person. I always have been. Dad said I had champagne taste on a beer budget! LOL. So I put my “Natti Lite” budget to good use by finding the best deals possible and the use of spray paint when necessary. I don’t like to toot my own horn, but I have become a whiz with drywall mud! I kind of shocked myself with how nice the dining room walls came out. When we are done with this project, I might get a job as a drywall finisher. Not really, but I think I could at this point! I have started using various muscle rubs like they are body lotion. I’m not really sure how much they help, but they sure keep the sinuses open. LOL.

We have our new furnace in place but still need to line the chimney. We had to order the supplies for that task. Mark your calendars! On the 23rd of this month, George and Jacob will be on the roof once again! That’s going to be an interesting and stressful Saturday. Say a prayer or ten for us; we need it! X’s & O’s.
