The Mankato City Library board met Monday. The director reported that at the Central Kansas Library System full system meeting, it was voted in favor of the resolution to exceed the revenue neutral rate. It was also announced the city has approved exceeding the revenue neutral rate.
The board determined there would not be a meal fundraiser for the library at the Oct. 2, Robert Turner Concert because there are not enough people available to serve.
The board president announced the county has approved the request to install a book walk on the courthouse property. There is $1,900 left to purchase books and the decision was made to put in the last book order for the library for 2021 using this amount.
The board went through the new draft for the Mankato City Library Policies to edit and make any final changes before the final approval.
The next board meeting will be at at 5 p.m., at the Mankato City Library on Oct. 18. Guests are welcome.
Upcoming programs: A program for grownups is coming up from 1 to 2 p.m., Friday, Nov. 5. Ashley Svaty from Post Rock Extension will be giving a slow cooker class in the community center meeting room.
Also, there will be two storytime programs for children in October. Saturday, Oct. 2, will be the regular 1st Saturday storytime with books and a craft. The theme is American Sign Language. Then on Saturday, Oct. 16, there is a Halloween storytime for a broader age range . Easy reader stories will be shared in the first half and spookier stories for older readers during the second half. There will be a craft or two also. Storytime starts at 11 a.m. for both programs. Children under 7 must have a parent or guardian present.
