SHS girls golf

The Superior High School girls golf team continues to forge an impressive record in their first season of play. They took home a first place finish from the Fairbury Invitational, Monday with a team score of 430. Three team members finished in the top 10.

Rayne Biltoft led the Wildcats at Fairbury with her round of 103 for 18 holes, good for fifth place in the individual standings. Haley Blackstone carded a round of 104 to take sixth place. Neah McMeen left the course with a round of 109 and a ninth place finish. Nadia McMeen had a round of 121.

Other teams competing at the match were Fairbury Tri County, Syracuse, HTRS, Seward, Heartland, Beatrice and Crete.

The team coasted by Doniphan Trumbull with a 50 stroke margin last Tuesday at a dual match played over the Superior Country Club course. The top four Wildcat golfers had an aggregate score of 198 for the nine hole event. The Cardinals finished with a score of 248.

The Wildcats turned in a fine outing with their second place finish in the seven team field at the Heartland Invitational Thursday. Superior recorded a team total of 406, just six strokes behind the first place Grand Island team score of 400.

Rayne Biltoft and Emma Henderson turned in rounds of 46 for nine holes against Doniphan-Trumbull. Haley Blackstone finished with her round of 52. Neah McMeen carded a round of 54. Nadia McMeen finished with a round of 56. The best four scores are used to tabulate the team score. Lauren Tietjen posted a round of 72 for the junior varsity team. Parker Littrell finished with a round of 88.

The Wildcats competed against Heartland, Tri County, Grand Island, Grand Island junior varsity, Exeter-Milligan and Fullerton at Heartland.

Biltoft and Henderson recorded rounds of 100 for the 18-hole match. Biltoft took sixth place and Henderson seventh place in the individual standings. Blackstone was in with her round of 102 and an eighth place individual finish. Neah McMeen toured the course with 104 strokes and an 11th place finish. Nadia McMeen finished with 119 strokes.

The team plays at the Fullerton Invitational Tuesday with a 10 a.m. tee time. The team received a last minute invitation to compete at the Minden Invitational, Friday. They accepted the invitation.

The team continues to improve with each match. This bodes well for the post-season.
