Sawyer Havenstein faced a rough outing in his first game as the Rock Hills High School football coach. COVID-19 had run through the school reducing the number of players available. And it showed as Lakeside decimated the Grizzlies 64-6 at Mankato Friday. The game was called at half time as the 45 point mercy rule was invoked. The rule allows a game to be called when one team leads another by 45 points or more after two quarters of play have been completed.
Rock Hills trailed 30-6 after the first quarter ended. Things did not improve as Lakeside dominated the offensive play with 34 points while their defense shut down Rock Hills offense.
Jacob Barry’s one pass attempt was incomplete.
The team picked up 24 yards on the ground on 26 carries.
Rock Hills will look to enter the win column when they host Axtell at Mankato, Friday. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
