Among the signs of season changing is the increased frequency of severe weather as warm and cold fronts tussle for control. As fall approaches the National Weather Service is more frequently including the prospect of damaging storms in local forecasts. Last Friday one of those storms struck the Jack Clark farm south of Hardy damaging two buildings, vehicles and machinery. Debris was blasted into the adjoining corn field. Superior and much of Jewell County received good rains this week but the rain missed much of Nuckolls County. A brief but heavy rain dropped fell on portions of Superior about 5 p.m Friday and more rain fell about daybreak Sunday. Friday's rain left about 0.40 on the downtown area and 0.60 at the airport and only 0.20 at Eleventh and Kansas.
