Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine FDA approved

The Food and Drug Administration has granted full approval to Pfizer-BioNTech’s COVID-19 vaccine for those ages 16 and older. The approval comes as the highly infectious Delta variant sweeps across the nation, causing case numbers to surge.

The vaccine will continue to be authorized for emergency use for children ages 12 to 15, as well as a third dose in moderately or severely immunocompromised people through emergency use authorization. So far, 44.5 percent of all Kansans are fully vaccinated. As a country, 170 million, or 51.5 percent, have received their full vaccine series.
