It’s a small world after all . . .
Six words from an old song seem truer as the world goes by. Connections to old friends or relatives or even community residents come up at the most unexpected times.
Last week Carroll and Cindy Troudt enjoyed a five day bus trip to Kentucky with the primary aim to visit the replica of the “Ark” located there. Mr. Troudt talked about a number of interesting tours and tourist items from the trip. He was also greatly impressed by the Ark replica.
However, he was also surprised by several people he met along the way. For example, the tour director was the daughter of former residents of Lawrence, Mr. and Mrs. George Neihaus. Later on, as he was in a conversation with a fellow passenger, he was asked where he called home. He said he was from a small town south of Hastings called Lawrence. The new acquaintance, from Omaha, said, “Gosh, I know where Lawrence is. Some years ago I used to type up college papers for a boy from Lawrence attending college in Omaha, but could not type because of a handicap.”
The Troudts knew right away that she was talking about Bud Schroer.
It truly is a small world.
