Stephen Spillman

Steven Spillman, 72, died at his home in Republic, Kan., on Aug. 11, after an 8-year battle with cancer.

Steve was born Feb. 1, 1949, in Superior, to Earl and Shirley Spill- man. He attended Superior schools until the family moved to Golden, Colo., in 1964. He graduated from Golden High School in 1967. In 1972, Steve married Charlene Horning of Indian Hills, Colo. They enjoyed 49 years of marriage. In 1977, they moved to Republic, where they resided until his death. Steve and Charlene have six boys. Michael (Lisa) of Tucson, Ariz., Jason (Heather) of Denver, Colo., Jacob (Daisy) of Olsburg, Kan., Philip of Abilene, Kan., Samuel (Courtnee) of Clay Center, Kan., and Lucas (Erica) of Emporia, Kan.; nine grandchildren; mother-in-law, Helen Horning of Nevada, Mo.; sister-in-law, Linda; and brother-in-law, Steve (Fran), and two sisters.

He was preceded in death by both parents, one sister, and brother-in-law, Stuart Horning.

Steve loved his family, especially his children and grandchildren but above all his heavenly father Jehovah God. He had a strong faith in the resurrection and God's kingdom that is soon to come. He wants everyone to remember him for who he was before he was sick. A father, grandfather, husband and friend to many. He will be dearly missed. No service or memorial is planned at this time.
