Golfers don't stop for heat during Couples Summer Golf League

Heat doesn’t stop golfers at Couples Summer Golf League

The Couples Summer Golf League met in Nelson Friday evening for the ninth week of competition. What a hot and humid evening it was! But it took more than the weather to keep these ‘die-hard’ golfers home!

The format for the evening, in addition to the usual two-person scramble, everyone teed off from the women’s tee boxes.  This helped lower some of the scores.

Cody and Crystal Wyatt had a  low net score of 28 after parring the course!

Dorrel Lipker and Carla Jeardoe had a high gross score of 49.

Dorrel Lipker was the closest to the 100 yard marker on no. 4 with his fairway shot; Cody Wyatt had the longest putt of 114” on no. 6, and Jerry Bargen chipped onto the no. 8 green within 17” of the hole for this week’s flag prizes.

After nine weeks of competition, the standings haven’t changed much and neither have the handicaps.

Earning two additional points, Jerry Bargen and Sally Uhrmacher are still in first place with 16 points.

Rod and Sue Burge remain in second place with 12 points after earning .5 point this week.

Hunter Holland and Emily Wulf  remain in third place with their 10 points.

Cody and Crystal Wyatt are in Fourth place with two additional points giving them 9.5 points.

Craig German and Cindy Hewitt are now in fifth place with their two extra points giving them nine. Following them are by Dorrel Lipker and Carla Jeardoe with 8.5 points.

Josh and Christina Harwell are now in seventh place with eight points, followed by Joe and Jenny Harwell with 7.5 points.

In ninth place with six points are John and Piper Hodge.

Tenth place, with 4.5 points are Ken and Jan Rempe.

Tying for 11th place with 2.5 points are Richard and Verlene Watson and Chuck and DeAnna Tuttle.

Later everyone met at the club house to cool down and enjoy the grilled burgers and extras.

Next Friday evening, the format will be a regular scramble.
