Pharmacy intern at Superior Pharmacy

Blair Hofstetter is serving her pharmacy internship at Superior Pharmacy for the month of August.

She is no stranger to a small town having grown up in Daykin. Blair graduated from Meridian High School in 2015. She earned a bachelor's degree in chemistry from Hastings College. She is currently in the pharmacy program at the University of Nebraska Medical School in Omaha. She is on track to graduate in May, 2022.

Hofstetter wanted to pursue a career in which she could give back to a community but didn't involve blood and gore. She shadowed a pharmacist while in high school and developed an instant affinity for the profession.

The internship is a requirement for graduation. The intern is introduced to all aspects of the pharmacy in real-world conditions. Lane Hawley, operator of Superior Pharmacy, has been taking interns under his wing for more than 15 years.

Blair would like to work in a community pharmacy after she graduates and is licensed. She said the relationships one establishes in the community are of vital importance to her.

It bodes well for the future of Nebraska when young professionals choose to stay home and serve their communities.
