A small but intense thunderstorm delivered a welcome rain Sunday morning to southern Nuckolls and Thayer counties.
The rain came as the corn was filling and will do much to assure the farmers have a good crop this fall. With this week's soaring temperatures, the dryland crop would have been in jeopardy without the rain.
Volunteer observers with the CoCoRaHS network have reported the following rainfall. While the observers are not affiliated with the National Weather Service each has a National Weather Service approved gauge with which to measure the rainfall.
While there are several active observers in Nuckolls County, Jewell County does not have an active observer and Thayer County did not have observers reporting from the heavy rainfall areas.
