the Couples Summer Golf League met at Elk Creek Country Club in Nelson Friday evening for week seven of competition, and what a perfect evening it was.
The format for the week, in addition to the usual two-person scramble, was the option to putt either hole, which helped lower some of the scores.
Three teams had a low net score of 30 for the week. Ken and Jan Rempe, Jerry Bargen and Sally Uhrmacher and Craig German and Cindy Hewitt.
Dorrel Lipker and Carla Jeardoe and Richard and Verlene Watson had a high gross score of 48, again this week. Dorrel Lipker and Carla Jeardoe also had to take an 8 on the par 4 no. 6 for the most over.
Ruth Epley, who was subbing this week, took home a flag prize, by getting a ‘birdie’ on no. 3! Brenda Schott, who was also subbing, had the longest putt on no. 1 at 78”. Ken Rempe’s drive on no. 5 was the closest to the 100 yard marker.
After seven weeks of competition, earning two additional points, Jerry Bargen and Sally Uhrmacher are still in first place with 12 points.
Also earning 2 points this week, Rod and Sue Burge remain in second place with 10 points.
Hunter Holland and Emily Wulf are now in third place with their 2 additional points, giving them 8.
Cody and Crystal Wyatt are in fourth place with 7.5 points.
Joe and Jenny Harwell earned 2 points this week also, giving them 7 and recognition for fifth place.
Josh and Christina Harwell are currently in sixth place with 6 points.
Tied for seventh place with 5 points are Craig German and Cindy Hewitt and Dorrel Lipker and Carla Jeardoe.
In ninth place are John and Piper Hodge with 4 points.
Tenth place with 3 points are Ken and Jan Rempe.
In eleventh place are Richard and Verlene Watson with 2.5 points followed by Chuck and DeAnna Tuttle with 2 points.
Later everyone met at the club house for grilled burgers and the extra sides.
Friday evening, in addition to the regular scramble, each team will get one mulligan.
