Wyatts move into third place during couples golf league

The Couples Summer Golf League met at Elk Creek Country Club in Nelson Friday evening for another round of competition.  Even though the thermometer read 99 degrees and the humidity was high, these die-hard golfers were ready and eager to get out there.  

In addition to the usual 2-person scramble format, the guys teed off from all the greens.  

Dorrel Lipker and Carla Jeardoe and  Cody and Crystal Wyatt had a  low net score of 31.  Dorrel Lipker and Carla Jeardoe and  Richard and Verlene Watson had a high gross score of 48, which was four strokes better this week.   

Ken Hamel, who was subbing this week, took home a flag prize on no. 4 with his drive the closest to the ladies’ tee box and on no. 6 he chipped onto the green within 18” of the hole.  Richard Watson had the longest putt on no. 8, 196” (Wow!  that’s more than 12’).

After five weeks of competi- tion, Jerry Bargen and Sally Uhrmacher are in first place with 10 points.

Also earning two points this week,  Rod and Sue Burge are in second place with eight points.

Cody and Crystal Wyatt moved into third place with their two extra points, giving them 7.5 points.

Hunter Holland and Emily Wulf and Josh and Christina Harwell  are tied for fourth with their six points.

Tied for sixth place with five points are Joe and Jenny Harwell and Dorrel Lipker and Carla Jeardoe.

  In eighth place are John and Piper Hodge with four points.

In ninth place are Craig German and Cindy Hewitt with three points.

Richard and Verlene Watson, with 2.5 points, are in tenth place.

Earning two points this week, making their big move and moving up to 11th place, are  Chuck and DeAnna Tuttle, followed by Ken and Jan Rempe with 1 point.

Later everyone met at the club house for grilled burgers and the extra sides.  

      Next Friday evening, in addition to the regular scramble, teams will have the option to putt either hole.
