Doris Healey

Doris Ann Healey, the daughter of Charles and Ella (Meador) Summers, was born Nov. 23, 1930, on a farm north of Webber, Kan. She died on June 28, 2021, at the Superior Good Samaritan Society Center, Superior, at the age of 90 years, 7 months, 5 days.

She attended Valley View grade school and graduated from Superior High School with the Class of 1948. After graduation, she worked as the secretary for the superintendent of schools at Superior, and later at Morris-Andersen Motor Company and the Farmers Union Creamery. Doris was a homemaker for several years and returned to office work and also was a caregiver for 18 years.

Doris was united in marriage to Jimmy D. Healey on April 9, 1950, at the Presbyterian Church in Superior. Four children were born to this union. They lived at Webber, Kan., while Jim served in the Marine Corps in Korea. Returning from the war, they lived in Superior and then moved to a farm near Hardy. They resided there until Jim's passing, she moved to Superior in 2009. She resided at Wilde Ridge and Kingswood Court before eventually making the Superior Good Samaritan Society her home.

Growing up Doris was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Superior. She later joined the Union Church of Hardy for 56 years, and was a member of the W.C.U. where she was the church treasurer for several years.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Jim on Dec. 15, 2008; sisters-in-law, Jean Paul and Freda Lou Hanson; and brothers-in-law, Chan Healey and J.W. Healey.

She is survived by her children: David (Barbara) of Superior; twins Cheryl (Gary) Hunt of North Platte, Neb .; and Daryl and friend, Barb, of Hampton, Iowa; and Robert "Bob" (Rhonda) of Kearney, Neb; 11 grandchildren: Amy Kimminau, Kristen (Andrew) Botz, Matthew (Samantha) Kimminau, Dana (Nick) Reichenberg, Lisa (Nate) Smith, Shauna Kiple, Stephanie(James) Dalrymple, Andrew Healey, Shane Healey, Taylan Healey and Grace Healey; step-grandchild, Shawna (Dan) Pilkinton; 10 great- grandchildren: Sierra McCall, Sharya Maestas, Hunter Healey, Isabella and Gabriella (twins) and Kaniel Dalrymple, Raya and Kylie Reichenberg, and Winston and Nolan Botz; and six step-great-grandchildren: Ryan and Rachel Pilkinton, Griffin, Paxton, Kambrey and Tatelyn Smith; brother-in-law, Raymond Hanson of Schuyler, Neb .; nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

Her funeral was held at 11 a.m., Friday, July 2, from the Megrue-Price Funeral Home in Superior with Missie Wilt officiating.

Music was "Take My Hand Precious Lord," "Sweet Hour of Prayer," and "Go Rest High on that Mountain."

Visitation was held Thursday, July 1, from 6 to 8 p.m., with the family present.

Pallbearers were Andrew Healey, Shane Healey, Taylan Healey, Matt Kimminau, Nick Reichenberg, Nate Smith, James Dalrymple, and Andrew Botz.

Interment was in the Hardy Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to go to Hardy Cemetery or the Hardy Community Hall.
