Board considering valuation protests

Nuckolls County Board

The Nuckolls County Board of Commissioners met at the county courthouse in Nelson, Tuesday. The meeting was on Tuesday as the courthouse was close on Monday for the Independence Day holiday.

It was a light agenda for the board. They approved the contract with Standard Appraisal Inc. for annual commercial and maintenance contracts.

The board approved an allocation for Mid-Nebraska Individual Services.

The board approved a contract with the Nebraska Auditor of Public Accounts for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2021.

A public hearing was held concerning the vacation of County Road Z from Road 3300, east 2,490 feet to the half-mile line between sections 4 and 19, T4N-R7W, in Liberty Precinct. No member of the public attended. The road vacation was approved.

The board adjourned to reconvene as the board of equalization to hear a property appraisal protest. Kathleen Meyer, representing Superior Estates Winery, requested the appraisal value of the winery be lowered. The board took the matter under consideration.

The board voted and approved recommendations on three protests heard at the June 28 meeting.

In all three cases the appraised value was lowered after the property had been examined.

The board will meet Monday, at 8:30 a.m., at the courthouse.
