Just another busy week in this house. Robert is on leave and has been home since Tuesday. I had thought he wasn’t coming home until Thursday evening, but plans change. My house is somewhat clean and put together. I have my dads to thank for that one. We had my dad over for dinner last Wednesday, and then on Friday, my “bio” dad and stepmother came for a visit. We had a good visit with both!
Managing the pool has been a challenge this week as well. With one assistant manager on vacation and the other ill, I feel like I’m running in circles. Not to mention the pool itself is a bit of a pampered princess. If I don’t spend an adequate amount of time with her, she acts up. We had swimming lessons last week. As if that wasn’t enough to keep me busy, the pool clouded up. I’ve never had that happen. As you can imagine, I was a bit of a mess trying to figure out how to fix it. It turns out time was all it needed and a bit of TLC. After the cloudiness left, and all the chemistry was back as it should be, things ran smoothly for about two days. They were running so smoothly I knew trouble was in our future. It turns out I was right! The state inspector showed up just as she, the pool, was having a fit. In six years, I have never been written up or closed by the state. Guess it was just my time. Thankfully I was only required to close for the afternoon.
Being closed for the afternoon allowed me the time I needed to make a quick trip to Grand Island to get more concessions for the pool and a few testing supplies we were running low on. I even managed to buy what should be a month’s worth of lunch meat, cheese and chips, but sadly they probably won’t last two weeks. Maybe we should take bets on that! LOL! While we are at it, we should bet on how long the house will remain tidy. I’m guessing through Wednesday.
We have made little progress on the money pit in the last two weeks. We may have set the bar too high. Our families think we are crazy for taking it on in the first place. George has a vacation planned for next week and hopes to accomplish a whole mess of things during that time. I am just hopeful I can get done what I started so he is able to accomplish half of the tasks he has planned. It seems every time I think I will get down there, something else pops up. When he is motivated to work on it, I’m not, and visa versa. I pray in the weeks to come, the good Lord will motivate us simultaneously, without some tragedy causing it. X’s & O’s.
