Janice Baden

Janice Sue Baden, 66, died June 18, 2021 in Kansas City, Kan. Janice, known as Jan, was born on June 30, 1954, in Hebron, Neb. to Helen and Albert Hoops.

Jan grew up on the family farm outside of Byron. She graduated from Byron High School in 1972. On Dec.28, 1981, Jan married Leo Otto Baden. They raised two sons, Nicholas and Joshua, together in Colby, Kan.

Jan had a passion for baking. She made the best desserts, especially Christmas cookies. She was a lover of music, including the Beatles and the Carpenters. Jan attended concerts performed by many bands. Jan enjoyed traveling. She traveled with Leo all around the country. She was also great at playing cards, often winning against family. She enjoyed playing games with the family. She was known for her smile, her incredible memory,

her attention to detail, and her love of family.

Jan was preceded in death by her brother, DeWayne; her father, Albert;

and mother, Helen. She is survived by her husband, Leo; her two sons,Nick and Josh; and three grandchildren.

Her funeral will be held at 1 p.m., at St. Peters Lutheran Church on Friday, June 25, with Pastor Keith Brozek officiating. Burial will be in the St. John's Lutheran Cemetery (rural Byron).

Williams Funeral Home of Superior is in charge of the arrangements.
