Trailblazer reports on collection days

Earlier this year the Trailblazer Resource Conservation and Development District held household hazardous waste collection days in Nelson, Hebron, Alma, Hildreth, Clay Center, Red Cloud and Hebron. At these events a total of 1,885 pounds of pesticides, 11,950 pounds of paint, 141 pounds of acids, 85 gallons of antifreeze, 37.10 pounds of batteries, one pound of mercury, 43 gallons of 2-4D, 527 fluorescent bulbs, 34 gallons of Round Up and 510 pounds of recyclable goods were collected.

The electronic recycling events which were held in Hebron, Geneva, Clay Center, Nelson, Alma, Red Cloud and Hildreth took in 105,132 pounds of electronics.

The events were funded by the Nebraska Environmental Trust. The Trailblazer district was assisted by the Lower Republican and Little Blue natural resource districts and the seven counties served by the district.
