The Rural Fellowship Interns have arrived in Superior. They were introduced at the city council meeting held Monday evening and have settled into the first of their three lodgings scheduled for their time here. They said they were excited to be here for The Victorian Festival and that desire made for a bit of "musical chairs" in the housing department as most housing choices were committed for at least part of this week.
The interns are:
Jeanne (Jane) Itetere
Jane has been attending the University of Nebraska at Lincoln for five years and is beginning her graduate work in integrated sciences focusing on agriculture. Her plan is to return to Kigali, Rwanda, and put her education to use in her homeland.
Kendra Vaughn
Kendra Vaughn hails from Glenwood, Iowa. She is a fourth year University of Nebraska at Lincoln student majoring in mechanized systems management. She plans to move into quality control in manufacturing or other large movement systems, after graduation.
If you see them around this weekend, stop and introduce yourself, and ask them what their degree really means. They are both passionate about their future and excited about their 10 weeks in Superior.
Mary Scroggins, the Superior development director, described them as delightful young women and said she was also excited about their time in Superior helping to develop the community's historical tour and website.
