The Lawrence-Nelson High School golf team closed out their regular season schedule with two invitational outings. They were in Hebron Wednesday for the Thayer Central Invitational played at the Hebron Country Club. The Raiders took seventh place in the 14 team field with their team score of 393. The four lowest individual scores make up the team score. Lawrence-Nelson competed against teams from Fillmore Central, Sandy Creek, Southern, Thayer Central varsity and junior varsity, Heartland, Beatrice, Blue Hill, Friend, Sutton, Fairbury Superior and Deshler.
They played their final regular season match at the Heartland Lutheran Invitational played over the Indianhead Golf Course in Grand Island, Thursday. The Raiders finished in second place, with 403 strokes, in the five team field. Other teams competing at the match were Bruning-Davenport-Shickley, Franklin, Heartland Lutheran and Red Cloud.
The Raiders played at the District D-2 match over the Indianhead Golf Course at Grand Island Monday. They failed to advance to the state match, finishing in fourth place, with a team score of 390. The top three teams qualified. The qualifying teams were Franklin, Hastings St. Cecilia and Thayer Central. Lawrence-Nelson missed the state match by seven stroke. No induvidual golfer qualified. The top 10 individual scores qualify for state if they did not qualify as part of a team.
Conner Janda was the low Lawrence-Nelson scorer at the Thayer Central Invite with his round of 87. Krayton Kucera came in with a round of 93. Toby Kotinek carded a round of 103. Wyatt Brockman finished with a round of 110. Blake Wroughton closed out his round with. 116 strokes.
Brockman took low scoring honors at the Heartland Lutheran Invite with his round of 95. Janda was in with a round of 98. Kucera posted a round of 101. Kotinek left with a round of 109. Wroughton finished with a round of 11.
Blake Wroughton played his final match for Lawrence-Nelson at the district tournament.
