A final note from Epley and meet Kennedy

L-N note from the principal and new principal

Thank you to the students, the staff and the communities of Lawrence-Nelson for allowing me to be your principal the last seven years. I will forever be a Raider community member and supporter of this school and you will still be seeing lots of me with a senior in high school. I think Mrs. Kotinek, Mrs. Biltoft and myself would all agree that what L-N does for our students and our community, as well as how well the school system works with the parents and family to create such a team atmosphere, is unmatched, and all of us will miss it greatly.

As I transition out and Mr. Kennedy transitions in, I look forward to working with him to make this as smooth as possible!

Have a great summer, enjoy your extra time with family and friends, and keep a book in your child's hands...I look forward to seeing the kids at summer ball, the pool, and remaining active in the Summer of 2021!

Daniel Kennedy New Principal for L-N Schools

Daniel Kennedy will be taking the place of preschool through high school principal. Mr. Kennedy answered the following questions to help us get to know him better.

He attended the University of Phoenix and earned his mast- er's of educational leadership, administration and supervision degree. He received his bachelor's degree with a history major at Metro State College.

Mr. Kennedy had multiple high school teachers who were inspirational in how they taught their classes. He also had a college professor at Metro who was impactful in how he went through his education program.

His previous experiences which have prepared him for this position include, Weld Central High School principal, 2014-2021, Brush High School principal, 2013-2015. He also taught and coached from 1995-2013 before he moved into administration.

His wife, Leah, is a registered nurse. They celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary this year and have three daughters, Abby is 24, Hannah is 22, and the youngest is Maddi who is 14 years old and will be a freshman next year.

He is excited to get back into a smaller school district. He grew up in a small town in northeast Colorado and Lawrence-Nelson seems like a great school with a family atmosphere. He said the district offers a lot of opportunities for a school its size. Mr Kennedy likes to read and have time with his family. He is ready to get to work and meet the staff, students, parents and become part of the community!
